Scott + Scott Co-Chairs Inaugural Pension Forum

COLCHESTER, CT, Oct. 2006 -- On September 21-22, 2006, Scott + Scott co-chaired the first assembled Middle Atlantic Public Employee Retirement Systems Forum (MATPERS) in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The conference included public pension plans from New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia and North Carolina for extensive discussions and debate on improving overall fund performance and operational management.

Scott + Scott Co-founder and managing partner David R. Scott, as one of the highlighted speakers, addressed corporate governance and best practices as they relate to management of pension funds. Given the myriad of responsibilities shouldered by the trustees and managers of public pension funds at both the micro and macro levels. Additional topics addressed at the forum covered advice on real estate investing, overall portfolio and class-asset management, healthcare benefits, alternative investments, as well as other issues specific to county, municipal and state public plans.

“The event provoked fresh dialogue on concerns of the day for pension funds across the nation,” said Scott.

Scott + Scott continues its commitment to representing institutional investors, as well as individuals in securities class and stockholder derivative actions and provides a host of services to counsel its clients on the best course of action to take when their holdings are substantially diminished by corporate wrongdoing. The firm has also successfully prosecuted some of the largest and most significant securities and related class action lawsuits since the passage of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995, recovering billions of dollars and achieving precedent-setting corporate governance reforms on behalf of investors.
